Contributors

Contributors have firsthand knowledge or connections to the cross section of society GenerationZii encompasses. They represent different voices/points of view/ realities and bring their being as a fiber of a broad and diverse generation through blog entries, articles, links, headline grabs or mixed media. Contributors may or may not have journalist, writing or blogger backgrounds but are engaging writers nonetheless. Their contributions are interweaved throughout the different categories and can be accessed directly. As posts grow they will paint a picture of each particular voice bringing together a whole canvas (“picture”) of what makes up GenerationZii.

The connection for all is a chronological generation of people. The interaction of technology with this sector will be highlighted along with overarching themes, major issues, and events that affect us all.

Contributors need not be American or live in the US.

A former marketer and incentive strategist Tanya Springer Bishai recently left corporate America to raise her 2 young children and hasn't looked back. A firm believer that "an unexamined life isn't worth living (socrates)" she spends her time pondering how to shape her world to best love and nurture her husband, her children and her community. Once an adventure seeking junkie she is channeling her obession with global travel into planting roots in New York City.

Ileany Fields was born in Medellin, Colombia has lived in Los Angeles, San Francisco and currently resides in London with her husband of 15 years, 8 year old son and 2 goldfish named Cody and Rex. A former Business-Strategist and Apparel industry professional for the tween market, she is currently a consultant and trend-forecaster for various apparel companies in the U.S. Amongst many things, her main interests are sustainability in design and manufacturing processes, consumer behavioral studies and the social anthropological side of fashion and how our choices evolve as we grow up. She believes that social reactions are shaped in our early years and is fascinated by Generation Z and its approach to life.

Lilia Rivera

Lilia Rivera currently lives in New York City and is the mother of two kids, a 10 year old daughter and 7 year old son. A Mexican immigrant at the age of 6, she grew up in Los Angeles a quintessential Gen X-er and now self proclaimed NEO. She is a former educator, youth worker, blogger, and homeschooler. Both kids were birthed naturally with a midwife, nursed forever and on the attachment parenting bandwagon just as it was all coming in vogue. She has a keen interest in this particular generation which she believes is at the forefront of formation. Her kids now attend a New York public school.

Lindsey Miller lives in Brooklyn, NY with his beautiful wife Elizabeth who is currently expecting their first child. Originally, from Colorado, moved to NYC in the summer of 2005 to pursue a master’s in fine arts in creative writing, which he has since completed. Creative producer for a media company by day and involved in a number of artistic endeavors on the side, including his blog, LindseysLibrary.com. Also on the list: music, voice over work, writing children’s and young adult books of his own, and technological sculptures. He is the author of children's book The Circus.

As mother to a 6 year old son with rare medical conditions, and a 11 year old daughter, Deana finds time to stay connected with friends and family around the world through innovative uses of technology. She loves to travel, read books that take her to far away lands, and loves to cook! Deana is a wife and stay at home mom, who has been blogging for 5 years. She also works full-time as her son's CNA (certified nurse assistant).

Carrie Arcos

Carrie Arcos is a mother of three, wife, professor, writer and wanna be foodie. She currently lives in Eagle Rock, a small eclectic community in Los Angeles. Passionate about how art can have transformative power in the lives of others, she has teamed with Urban Poets, a performance arts group, as a producer and stage manager traveling all over the world, most recently Singapore. Her most important project to date has been to help build a children’s village Breath of Heaven in Lusaka, Zambia where there are more orphans due to HIV/AIDS and disease per capita than anywhere in the world. She has a weakness towards science fiction, including anything with Joss Whedon or JJ Abrams in the credits, young adult literature and Swedish black licorice.

Belinda is a mother of two boys ages 9 and 6. She keeps busy teaching, playing basketball, video games with her boys, and engaging in their exciting/ dangerous imaginary worlds. Her kids are in a Spanish Dual Immersion program which keeps her abreast of many bi-cultural issues. Globalization is a reality and this program has an emphasis on valuing languages and cultures which is key for the generation in which they live. She has a background in youth work, acting and managing a small business with her parents. Her husband and sons keep her up to date in a techie world.
